UDAS Print Group Session

Saturday, 2nd May, 10am to 1pm.  Held at Myrtle’s house, Aboyne

The next UDAS Print Group meeting will be held at Myrtle’s house at the above date and time. As always, space is limited so if you’d like to attend and learn more, please contact Angie Bolt:

Jonathan Shearer in Aboyne in April

Friday afternoon, 17 April between 1400 and 1600 in the Bowling Club Hall, Aboyne

The April event is a joint venture between the Aboyne and Tarland Art Groups comprising a talk/demo and workshop to be given by Jonathan Shearer in the use of acrylics in the depiction of landscapes. The Saturday workshop is open only to members of the Aboyne and Tarland Art Groups as numbers are necessarily limited by the space, but other members of UDAS will be most welcome to attend the talk and demonstration on Friday afternoon, 17 April between 1400 and 1600 in the Bowling Club Hall. Arrangements all similar to the usual UDAS talk events: no entry fee; refreshments provided, with a discretionary contribution towards refreshment costs.

Helen Bruce Workshop!

Saturday 16th May, 2026, 10am – 4pm in the Aboyne Bowling Club Hut

For those few not familiar with Helen’s style, its what I would term “emotive abstract”: Helen reduces landscapes to a few simple shapes and rough lines and yet her pictures still manage to capture and convey the pleasure one gets from a picturesque scene, see below. I just wish I could do the same!

Elaine Reid, artist, writer and therapist

Friday 22nd May, 2026, 2pm – 4pm in the Aboyne Bowling Club Hut

Elaine will talk about the creative journey she has been on over the last 20 years.  She will describe how her love of poetry led her to train as a therapeutic writing facilitator, and how this practice of writing, which silences the inner critic, ultimately enabled her to take up a paint brush again after swearing off such artistic practice back in the 1980s!
